Within only two months and perfectly in time for the opening of o2's new flagship store in Cologne, Syzygy set up a Microsoft Surface Table with various apps to interactively experience o2's brand and products.

Some impressions:

Application Launcher with dynamical navigation

The main task was to bypass the Microsoft Standard Launcher in order to be “on brand” all the time. The Application Launcher offers a fully configurable Shell Administration which allows updating all the settings of the launcher online and thus from any place. To assure being “on brand” even in times of longer application loading phases Syzygy created an o2-specific delay screen showing the popular o2 bubbles.

Handset Finder

Aside from general information, new handsets are usually the central motive for visiting the o2 store and this is where the Microsoft Surface Table comes into play. Users can interactively choose from a wide selection of handsets. Without additional maintenance – all the data is pulled directly from the existing o2 backend systems and thus always up to date. Using the touch-sensitive surface, users can easily filter for desired features, compare handsets and view them from various angles.

Media Player

The Microsoft Surface Table for o2 is also equipped with a fully functional media player which is the perfect means for promoting actual tariffs, actions and campaigns. Standard functions such as Play/Pause are supported by dynamic size recognition and also a full-screen mode. Again, all media content can be drawn from the o2 backend systems or from external sources.

Puzzle

With its large touch screen, the Microsoft Surface Table is destined to be used for interactive games. Puzzle is just one of many possible games to be offered within the o2 store. The ideal solution to bridge waiting for the next assistant or to entertain the children while talking with the staff. The pieces can be dragged and rotated until the right position is found.

Shop & Highlight Finder

Another helpful  interactive gadget. With the o2 Shop Finder any o2 store in Germany can be located on the Surface Table. Powered by bing maps, this application lets you even search local as well as international highlights. The user can switch between a classical map view and the satellite view. Again, Syzygy tapped the o2 dealer information system so that all information about o2 is also available in this app and always up to date.

Air Hockey

Another fun feature. Designed to entertain waiting customers or their children, this multiplayer application has the potential to even distract from o2’s principal business model: mobile phones. It’s a good thing the Air Hockey game is o2-branded and also features the available mobile phones. Always synchronous with the o2 backend.
