hive is an interactive light installation floating above water in the park behind Frankfurt’s opera by students from School of Design Mainz we gladly supported for the light festival Luminale 2010.

Debug is a great physical installation exploring what happens when you let nature interact with technology. It is an experimental machine that transforms the movements of insects into beautiful patterns printed as posters.

What a great application. It’s a Clock attempts to humanise the measurement of time by providing us with a scale more suited to the realities of life. Instead of giving you the exact time, the app says “It’s nearly eight thirty.”

A collegue of mine forwarded this remarkable orga chart to me yesterday and I was amazed about the beauty of this graph. And at the same time I was impressed about the thoughtful comments Jeff Staple spent on it. 

The software of Fernanda Viegas and Martin Wattenberg calculated the relative proportions of different colors seen in photos taken in each month of the year, and plotted them on a wheel.
